Why Prop 50 Matters to Us
In June, some members of Congress voted to cut essential services that support working families, including Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
- Medicaid funds more than half of IHSS, the program that pays home care providers.
- SNAP puts food on the table for the children we care for.
When Congress cuts these programs, everyone suffers. And this is just the beginning—the cuts won’t stop unless we act.
By approving new congressional maps, Prop 50 gives us the power to elect champions for working families—leaders who will vote to protect care and ensure providers and our families aren’t left behind.
By protecting care through Prop 50, UDW shows what we do best: fight for healthcare, economic security, and justice for working families.
Cynthia Williams
“We need champions in Congress to fight for IHSS and family child care. The Republicans in California voted to cut hundreds of millions in funding for Medi-Cal and IHSS. We deserve better representation in Congress!
We can fight back by voting YES on Prop 50.”
Precious Henley
“In Kern County, we have horrible air quality and a huge segment of the population relies on Medicaid for health care. Cutting Medicaid is like choking them to death. I’m supporting Prop 50 to hold congressional members accountable. It’s time to elect members of Congress who care about strengthening our communities!”
