In May, family child care provider and CCPU-UDW member Nancy Gonzalez gave testimony to policymakers in Washington D.C. in support of the Child Care Block Development Grant. CCPU-UDW members officially reached an agreement with the State of California on a plan to improve access to affordable healthcare for thousands of family child care providers. Way to go, CCPU-UDW! UDW members across CA are negotiating new IHSS contracts with their local Boards of Supervisors, including Orange County (pictured above). We are demanding that counties pay IHSS caregivers livable wages and improved benefits! On Juneteenth, UDW members in San Diego (pictured above) and Santa Barbara counties came together to celebrate and reflect on how far we’ve come to ensure equity and justice for Black people in America—and how far we still must go. UDW members in Tuolumne County celebrated their big victory, securing a new contract that included increased wages and benefits and Heroes Pay, a one-time payment of $250!
