Stand With California
Family Child Care Providers.

We look out for those who care for our children. Access safety resources, know your rights, and stand in solidarity.

Family child care providers across California are facing harassment, unauthorized filming, and intimidation fueled by political extremism and anti-immigrant rhetoric. No provider should feel unsafe in the place where children are cared for, and families depend on stability.

Why This Matters

Intimidation Has No Place in Child Care

No child should be filmed without consent, and no provider should face racist or anti-immigrant intimidation for doing licensed, regulated work.

When intimidation targets providers, it destabilizes families and communities.

Family child care providers are:

  • Licensed early childhood educators
  • Small business owners
  • Skilled child care workers who open their homes every day so working parents can show up to their jobs
  • Community anchors who keep local economies running

For Providers

Support and Tools for Child Care Providers

We want every provider to feel supported, know their rights, and have the tools they need to handle unwanted visits or confrontations. Select below or download all provider resources here.

Rapid Response Guide

Download this quick and easy guide that will walk you through what to do in case you are met with an unwanted visitor at your child care.

Safety Signage Kit

Free, printable signs to post at entry points to help protect your premises from unauthorized visitors and immigration enforcement. Posting signs such as “Employees, Children, and Their Families Only” can deter unwanted access to your facility.

De-escalation Guide

You have the right to ask unauthorized visitors to leave your property at any time. This guide includes practical tips to help you reduce tension, protect children and families, and respond calmly in high-pressure situations.

Know Your Rights During Unannounced Visits

Your first responsibility is always the safety of the children in your care and yourself. This checklist outlines your rights and what to do during harassment, aggressive behavior, or unauthorized visits. If someone is threatening, refusing to leave, or you feel unsafe, call 911 or local law enforcement immediately.

Documenting the Incident

You have the right to document harassment and report hate. If you have been targeted, surveilled, or notice unwelcome visitors, report the incident to your local licensing office or contact UDW for guidance.
