UDW Executive Director Doug Moore Slams “Heartless” Senate Budget Proposal

SAN DIEGO, CA – United Domestic Workers (UDW/AFSCME Local 3930) Executive Director Doug Moore issued the following statement in response to the Senate’s passage of the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” today:

“I am beyond disgusted by the cruelty and cowardice shown by our nation’s Senate leaders with the passage of this heartless budget. Trump’s so-called ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ will strip nearly 2.4 million Californians of their Medicaid coverage—cutting them off from the health care they depend on to survive.

The American people have been clear: they do not support this bill, and they reject cuts to Medicaid. But instead of listening to their constituents, lawmakers chose to serve their billionaire donors—ramming through a budget that delivers massive tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy while forcing working people to pay the price.

Make no mistake: this bill will cause real harm. People will suffer. People will die—just so the richest Americans can pad their bank accounts. This is not fiscal policy; it is a direct attack on working families, seniors, children, and people with disabilities.

What happened today was not democracy. It was betrayal. And mark my words: UDW and our more than 200,000 home care and family child care providers will fight like hell to ensure that every single Republican in the House and Senate who voted for this shameful bill is held accountable and defeated at the ballot box.”
