SAN DIEGO, CA – United Domestic Workers (UDW/AFSCME Local 3930) is excited to welcome Paloma Aguirre to the San Diego Board of Supervisors.
“Our members knocked on thousands of doors and made thousands of phone calls urging support for Supervisor-elect Aguirre in this race, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results,” said UDW Executive Director Doug Moore. “The Board of Supervisors (BOS) plays a critical role in the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program in our county. Supervisor-elect Aguirre shares our values of protecting and uplifting caregivers who perform lifesaving work in the community.”
UDW ran a large member-to-member campaign throughout the district and helped turnout thousands of the necessary votes to help secure this win. “When former Supervisor Nora Vargas stepped down, we knew we needed another advocate for working people to take over that seat,” Moore added. “It was beyond a doubt that Paloma was that candidate and that she would fight for caregivers, child care providers, and all working families in San Diego. We want to congratulate her and we look forward to working with her to continue to improve the lives of San Diegans.”
