Letter from UDW President

UDW Family,

Our union is a democratic one—guided by our members and led by an Executive Board that is nominated and elected by our membership every three years. This year was not only an election year, but a historic one because we welcomed and expanded the statewide board with the introduction of District 8 (North, South, and Central), representing our growing family child care membership.

We also elect our local boards—leaders who shape our work and make an impact at a local level. These are the members who lead our councils, facilitate membership meetings, and power local efforts in their communities.

It’s always an exciting time for me to usher in new voices and welcome back trusted ones. Together, this board has been chosen to help us take on some of the biggest threats we’ve faced in years. From state and federal budget cuts, attacks on civil rights, and immigration crackdowns—every day we face news and changes that affect our members and the people we care for.

And yet, I feel hopeful. Grateful. Because UDW is no stranger to adversity. When we organize, we win. And with this new board of bold, committed leaders—we will keep moving forward. We will protect what we’ve built, and we will come out stronger than ever.

With that, I’m proud to introduce your 2025 UDW Executive Board:
