Child care providers have been showing up all summer — from Sacramento to communities across the state — fighting for pay rates that reflect the true cost of care and for the training and protections we need to keep our programs safe.
In June, we held a powerful sing‑in at the Capitol, urging lawmakers not to shortchange child care in the state budget. And we didn’t stop there. Providers traveled to Sacramento again and again throughout the summer: rallying, making public comments, sharing our stories, and demanding that legislators finally invest in the workforce that keeps California families going.
Our message has been clear: we deserve pay that reflects the true cost of care — not poverty wages that push programs to the brink of closure.
Two Critical Bills Need Our Voices
We are calling on legislators to vote YES on two bills that would make a real difference for child care providers:
- AB 1981 — This bill helps stabilize programs so we can keep our doors open and continue serving families.
- AB 2379 — Ensures providers receive Know Your Rights training so we can protect our programs, stay compliant, and keep child care safe for the children and families we serve.
This summer’s actions are only the beginning. We are united and ready to keep fighting for the future of child care in California.
