UDW Statement Following Tom Steyer’s Concession in California Governor’s Race

San Diego, Cal. — United Domestic Workers (UDW/AFSCME Local 3930) Executive Director Doug Moore issued the following statement after endorsed candidate Tom Steyer conceded in the California governor’s race:

“Tom Steyer ran an incredible campaign grounded in the rights and needs of working Californians. While we are disappointed that he fell just short of making the November ballot, his campaign brought much-needed attention to the importance of home care and child care in California.

“We thank Mr. Steyer for his hard work, for putting our members first, and for recognizing the essential, lifesaving care they provide across our state. We will continue that fight as we move forward.

“We also congratulate Xavier Becerra on his victory and look forward to engaging with the Democratic front-runner to ensure he fights for California’s care workers and keeps our members’ values front and center in his campaign.”
