Even as we faced threats like proposed cuts to hours and overtime, members stood together and won real gains. Together, UDW members ratified eight new IHSS contracts across the state, increasing wages and benefits for over 147,000 home care workers!
These victories were made possible through meetings, long negotiation sessions, collective action, as well as the dedication and resilience of local members who went above and beyond to make sure their local county Board of Supervisors recognized the vital work we do every day. As a result, providers in Alpine, Imperial, Mono, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Stanislaus counties all now celebrating hard-fought new contracts.
In addition to these wings for home care providers, family child care providers across the state also celebrated another hard-fought contract with the state. This contract protects existing funding for the health care fund, secures stabilization pay, and moves us one another step toward the true cost of care.
Our strength comes from members like you. Together, we’ll keep fighting for a secure and prosperous future for care workers across California.
