Spring into Your Groove

Spring is in full bloom—and just like the season, it’s a reminder that we, too, deserve to grow and blossom!

As caregivers and early childhood educators, we give so much of ourselves to others—often without a second thought. We put in long days, navigate endless tasks, and hold space for the emotional and physical needs of the people we care for and educate. But in the process, it can be easy to forget that our health, well-being, and joy matter too.

This spring, we’re encouraging all home care and family child care providers to reconnect with our bodies through joyful movement—whatever that looks like for you. It’s not about following a strict fitness routine or adding pressure to your busy day. It’s about creating space—just a few minutes a day—for yourself. To breathe. To stretch. To dance. To feel good in your skin again.

Even five to fifteen minutes of movement can help reduce stress, lift your mood, and give you the energy to power through your day. Whether you’re stepping outside to soak up the sun, putting on your favorite song and dancing in the kitchen, or taking deep breaths while stretching before bed—every bit counts for both your body and your brain!

Here’s how some of our UDW members are embracing the season and tapping into their own rhythms of care and self-connection:

Maryrose Moreau

“I practice mindfulness by paying attention to the present moment to avoid getting caught up in negative thoughts, emotions, or past traumas. I also like to repeat positive statements about myself to remind both myself and others of who I truly am.”

Kelly Marie Mazza

“For me, nature is my sanctuary. I find it to be the most rewarding and relaxing setting when I need to center myself and connect to stillness. I make an effort to spend time outside, pray over my food, and listen to classical music. These small rituals ground me and bring peace to my day. It’s how I show up whole for those around me.”

Jennifer Anne “RALLY” Valenzuela

“Each season, I take time to reflect on how I want to grow and mindfully create a plan that grounds me. For my mental health, I limit screen time and spend time capturing beauty through photography—it fuels my creativity and brings playfulness into my routine.”

Lynn Sharp

“To stay healthy and cleanse the mind, I prioritize regular physical activity, such as walking and Zumba, which not only strengthens my body but also helps clear my thoughts. I also practice mindfulness and meditation, dedicating time each day to reflect and center myself. It enhances my mental clarity and emotional well-being.”

Movement is self-care. And self-care is how we keep our light shining—not just for ourselves, but for our families, our clients, and our communities. It’s a small step with a big impact.

So, this season, we invite you: Find your groove. Make space for yourself. Move in joy.
Because you deserve to feel strong, supported, and whole—not just in spring, but all year long.
